The Urban Development Authority (UDA) has dropped all routine work to concentrate its efforts in drawing up an coastal belt reconstruction master plan, to rebuild the region guttered by Sunday tsunami. Among the major decision to be made include moving the existing home and other infrastructure inland.

Officials say, initial indications are that most damaged infrastructure will be re-established away from the coast.

The UDA has deployed a team to assess the damage and quantity resource requirement.

Funding requirement and sources will also be assessed with the UDA likely to shift some funding from other projects, giving priority to the rebuilding effort.
