Middle East based airline, Qatar Airways says it will fly via Colombo on its way to Australia, picking up Indian tourists to fill up its flights.
Flights to Australia will take off after rounding up bilateral aviation negotiations between Sri Lanka and Qatar in March 04.rn

rnThe transit operation from Colombo to Australia is part of the airlines agreement with the Sri Lankan government. rn

rnAt the moment the airline flies directly to and from Colombo and Doha and also connects the island to nine European destinations via Doha, feeding tourism into Sri Lanka. rn

rnQatar Airways say with flights between the Sri Lanka and India being opened out for smaller operators, more Indian tourist could flock to Sri Lanka on business and pleasure or just to fry to other destinations via Colombo. rn

rnIndia topped Sri Lankas tourism arrivals list this year with the highest number of tourists to the island endash in it self a significant contribution to the local economy. rn
