May 25, 2009 (LBO) – Emirates said it will increase flights to the Sri Lankan capital Colombo by resuming services via Male from July 1 with the launch of three additional flights a week between Dubai and Colombo. From July 1, 2009, Emirates flight EK 654 will depart Dubai at 1020 hours local time and arrive in Male at 1525, the Emirates statement said.
The flight will depart Male at 1650 and arrive in Colombo at 1850, all times local.
From Colombo, the flight will return to Dubai, departing 2015 and touching down at its home base at 2300.
Emirates will deploy an Airbus A330 aircraft on the route, offering 12 seats in First Class, 42 seats in Business Class and 183 seats in Economy Class. The new Dubai Male Colombo Dubai services will operate on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays, and increase the number of services between Colombo and Dubai to 18 a week, the airline said in a statement.
“This is great news for Sri Lankans and Maldivian alike, as the new schedule increases frequencies to and from Dubai and re-establishes the Emirates link between Male and Colombo,” said Chandana de Silva, Emirates Area Manager Sri Lanka and Maldives.
