Sri Lanka JKH unit gets Air France-KLM agency

Jan 31, 2014 (LBO) – Mack Air (Pvt) Ltd, a unit of Sri Lanka’s John Keells Holdings said it will be the general sales agent for Air France – KLM in the island from February 2014. The agency for the Netherlands-based KLM was held by Sri Lanka’s Carson Cumberbatch for 50 years, dating back from before the Air France – KLM consolidation took place.

Carson Cumberbatch was exiting airline operations to focus on “core business” with the consent of KLM, the statement said.

Romesh David, head of JKH’s transportation division said the market would be developed with the synergies synergies generated by other related and complementing businesses within the travel, transportation, leisure and hotel sectors” of the group.

Air France-KLM, has a network spread over four continents helping boost tourist arrivals and also catering to needs of the Sri Lankan travellers, the firm said.
